8600 touchpad driver

I need the touchpad driver for the Inspiron with XP. I am trying to disable the trackstick and my current driver does not allow it. I tried downloading the alps driver, but this didn't help the problem because even after installing and restarting, the driver would not run. So I installed the touchpad driver for the , the only one I could find on this site, but this doesn't allow me to disable the trackstick.
