Services provided through the FHAR program include academic advising and mentoring, on and off campus advocacy, social service referrals for low cost housing, food insecurities, mental health needs, and financial aid assistance. The FHAR program provides students with school supplies, necessary personal hygiene items, household items, bus passes, and textbooks from our small library student donated books.
Unexpected situations may merit a review and re-calculation of a student's financial aid package. Life happens and sometimes students might be faced with financial challenges or unexpected situations like car repairs, daycare expenses, or loss of a job. The Student Health and Wellness Center offers the same types of services you can get from your family doctor.
Food insecurity refers to having limited food available, including a reduction in the quality, safety or variety of food or ability to acquire food in a socially acceptable manner. At UTEP, we recognize that food insecurity is an obstacle to student success and think it's crucial that students' basic needs are being met. UTEP students who are enrolled in courses in the fall or spring semesters are eligible to use the Food Pant ry.
Students registered for the fall semester have access to the pantry during the summer.
