Cars 2. Don't let the kiddie license fool you. Cars 2 is a great game in the vein of Mario Kart. By Nicole Tanner Updated: 3 Mar pm. Amid the sea of mediocre or just plain awful licensed games, Disney and Avalanche Software surprised everyone with Toy Story 3 last year. By working closely with Pixar, Avalanche was able to take the essence of the property and turn it into a game that not only made sense, but was actually really good. When I heard the same amount of time and collaboration was going into Cars 2 , I expected to see the same level quality.

I'm still scratching my head at the reasoning behind taking the DS Cars 2 in a completely different direction than the consoles. Da Gameboyz.

You play as a number of different characters, including Lightning, Mater, Holly, and Finn in two basic types of gameplay — racing and stealth. Visually, Cars 2 is about what you would expect for a DS game, though the characters are animated well and look exactly like lower resolution versions of their big-screen counterparts. Another bonus is that the game features voiceover and most of it is from the actors who did the voices in the film. With the exception of Lightning and Finn McMissile, pretty much all of the other characters have their true voices, even though they suffer from some distortion due to compression.

YES NO. The fun multiplayer design featured on the consoles makes sense for the property and offers up an experience that rivals Mario Kart. Positive: 0 out of 4. Mixed: 3 out of 4. Cars 2 is a title that fits the target to which it refers, bestowed with a good gameplay. A shame for the almost complete lack of online features.
